Our Approach

Our STEAM workshops are universally designed and delivered to provide consistent, equitable, high-quality, and fun enrichment experiences

Next Generation Science Standards

Science and Engineering Practices describe what scientists do to investigate the natural world and what engineers do to design and build systems. The practices better explain and extend what is meant by “inquiry” in science and the range of cognitive, social, and physical practices that it requires. Students engage in practices to build, deepen, and apply their knowledge of core ideas and crosscutting concepts

Disciplinary Core Ideas are the key ideas in science that have broad importance within or across multiple sciences or engineering disciplines. These core ideas build on each other and are grouped into the following four domains: Physical Science, Life Science, Earth and Space Science, and Engineering.

STEAMworks For Kids aligns each workshop with NGSS standards in order to be able to reach each child in a developmentally- and age-appropriate way.

Responsive Classroom Environment

Responsive Classroom is a student-centered, social and emotional learning approach to teaching and discipline. It is comprised of a set of research, and evidence-based practices designed to create safe, joyful, and engaging classrooms and school communities for both students and teachers.

STEAMworks For Kids delivers each workshop according to a consistent and leveled plan that relies on a strong understanding of social and emotional learning. We modify our approach to suit a more casual summer and afterschool program environment, so kids can have fun while learning. We strive to build community and happy experiences through our STEAM-based workshops.
